Guidance to install Ubuntu

I've Windows XP SP3!!! Can i intsall Ubuntu 10.04 after this i mean do i've to format the complete system then install Ubuntu n then XP or can I install like that only means without tiching XP SP3.
Intel Core2Duo E4500 @ 2.20 Ghz, 2 GB RAM(533Mhz), Nvidia 7600 512 MB, Using geuine Windows XP SP3 fully updated and working perfectly.

No need to format.
First XP then Ubuntu.

So what will happen who will dominate whom

No one will dominate anybody.
At startup while booting you will have two options-XP and Ubuntu.
Select one and hit enter

You will see a few I think 4 options of Ubuntu grub and the last will be of XP...

But remember the sequence- First Xp and then only Ubuntu, Otherwise, XP WILL dominate Ubuntu!!! (I've faced this.)

The box said 'Requires Windows 7 or better'. So I installed LINUX.

Oh yes I remember there will be 4 options.
BTW, you can decide the line-up i.e first XP and then Ubuntu.
I don't know how but my bro had did it.

ubuntu 10.04 lucid come with windows installer. it become very easy task to install. start wubi.exe and follow simple steps.. :)
